CNC & Manual Turning

At Elmi Machine & Tool Co., our manual and CNC turning services are backed up by more than 50 years of experience and the ability to develop the optimal manufacturing solution regardless of design complexity or quantity. As a machine shop that specializes in high volume work, our design for manufacturability input helps companies improve quality and achieve significant savings by lowering the material, production, and assembly costs of mass-produced items.

We operate multi-axis turning centers with automation capabilities that facilitate lights-out production. All of our equipment is well maintained and routinely calibrated to ensure the highest level of accuracy. Our programmers and machinists have excellent technical skills for optimizing tooling setups and machine operation to produce quality parts that have complex geometric features and specific surface finish requirements. By adapting and innovating, we achieve a very high degree of accuracy and part-to-part repeatability over long production runs.

One of our strengths is our ability to turn parts from an extensive mix of materials. We work with all types of metal, from standard grades to high-temperature, high wear, and corrosion resistant alloys. In addition, we turn parts from a wide range of plastic polymers as well as other non-metals, including composites and high performing ceramics. We turn parts measuring from 0.1” to 12.0” in diameter x 0.008” to 10.0” in length while upholding tolerances as close as ±.00002” on straightness, concentricity, ID/OD, and length. For parts where a higher degree of precision is necessary, we can accommodate even tighter tolerance requirements.

As an ISO compliant, quality-driven machining company, we perform in-process and final inspections using CMMs, optical comparators, and other metrology tools to ensure turned parts conform to specifications. Although we specialize in longer runs, we also offer competitive, fast turnaround turning services for prototype and shorter run projects.
